Weekly Quote:
“Strength doesn’t come from what you can do; it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.” – Unknown
Contemplation:
~ What would happen to us if we based our actions solely on our fear without ever challenging it? Would we ever learn how to overcome anything? Would our coping muscles get a chance to grow? When a challenge arises and we are not sure what to do, the mind can go wild. It’s expected to use your natural anxiety levels to assess the risk and make sure you are safe. We should not judge ourselves for that. But what to do next? That’s where it becomes interesting…..
Tip for the Week:
~ Face your fears – Robert Forst said “The only way out is through”. Don’t let the heebee jeebies be the end of the story. Keep going and gain more perspective before acting. Slow it down.
The Practice:
Stay Calm and Breathe: When confronted with a fearful situation, focus on your breathing. Take slow, deep breaths to calm your nervous system. This can help you think more clearly and respond effectively rather than reacting impulsively to the fear.
Use Visualization: Try visualizing a positive outcome or a safe place when facing a fearful situation. This can help shift your mindset and reduce anxiety. Imagine yourself successfully navigating the situation, which can boost your confidence.
Seek Support: Don’t hesitate to reach out to friends, family, or a therapist for support and guidance when dealing with fear. Talking about your feelings and concerns with someone you trust can provide valuable perspective and emotional reassurance.
Go do that voodoo that you do. Expose yourself to the things you want to do – learn you can face it – but get some help. You are not alone!
